Re: Next Mayor 2019

I''ll be surprised though if Canady throws her support to Lucas. She gave him a public rebuke on TV in the Council chambers over the Paseo renaming. I can't imagine being that scathing towards another Council member, and then supporting them for Mayor.

I guess anything is possible though.

This is what the new downtown KCK grocery store could look like ... The Unified Government and The Merc Co+op, who will be running the store, hope to break ground in June at 5th & Minnesota. They need to have a store design picked out by early March to keep everything on track. It could look like o...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

The race at this point is a statistical dead-heat between Justus and Miller (taking into account a poll's margin of error). About 30 percent of those polled aren't supporting anyone among the 8 candidates yet. I'm surprised Lucas has not garnered more support than the other three council members who...

Re: Broadway

I guess this proves we shouldn't panic when some projects go quiet for awhile. There have been three that I can think of that seemed to have extended lag-time, then sprang back to life: this one, the West Bottoms warehouse conversion, and the old Federal Reserve building. Maybe the East Village, and...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

My guess is that this is one of the first strikes, of many to come, against corporate welfare. The thing is, it only really takes one state to keep the gravy train going. Yeah, New Jersey is already out begging. https://nypost.com/2019/02/11/phil-murphy-wants-amazon-to-consider-moving-hq2-to-newark/

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Mayoral candidates need to be listening. They need to put personal and previous agendas, talking points, aside and really listen to residents from all neighborhoods. The one who does, and reflects that to voters, will probably be the next mayor, I am supportive of downtown development and overall ec...

Amazon still isn’t coming to Missouri as long as we’re a state that discriminates ... That’s not the case here, obviously. But doesn’t the fact that Amazon picked New York and a D.C. suburb in the first place tell you anything, Governor Parson? If not, we will be the ones break it to you: The chanc...

It's pretty bad though when the city in which you are headquartered, Seattle, sends city officials to New York City to testify, and warn them, not to do the deal.

You are absolutely right. Their attitude towards constituents can cause a loss by just a few votes. They often don't realize this. Long-serving politician staffs say that their candidate often keeps winning (even where their party might be outnumbered) because they are excellent at dealing with cons...

I don't think they realize that Kansas City is probably the best location for the museum. You are probably correct they are just looking for incentives to stay.
