Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Does anyone else find ax throwing really creepy? Am I just old? Like everyone says Cordish is so selective about their tenants, and we get people throwing axes? It's a temporary fad that won't last long. Similar to the escape room craze that is already dying down. The only creepy part about it is s...

Yes, if the streetcar tax election was combined with a free bus vote, then it might pass.

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I don't see the Northeast residents ever voting to set up the tax district for the Independence Avenue expansion. I have yet to encounter anyone who supports a streetcar in this neighborhood. You might be able to extend one to around Independence Avenue and Woodland if you could get some pro-streetc...

HerrFrank, the irony is that Knight-Ridder owns the KC Star -- as it does the Miami Herald.
Knight-Ridder hasn't existed since 2006. It was bought by McClatchy.

Re: Boston in 3 days

One of the nice things about living in Kansas City is not being so stressed out just by driving somewhere. I lived in NYC for a decade and never found New Yorkers to be as rude as reputed. Some could be aggressive, and some were blunt. I interacted with all types of people and just didn't find it to...

The Yeager Hotel (east of the Savoy) still exists in the 1940 Jackson County tax photos. I think the newest car in that photo of the Savoy Hotel is a 1950 Chevrolet. More tracks. This one shows streetcar tracks on Wyandotte too. https://kchistory.org/islandora/object/kchistory%3A99968 https://kchist...

Two new-build hotels along 9th Street in 100 years. This and the Hyatt House. 9th Street used to be the hotel district in the 1880s-1920s because of the streetcar lines on 8th and 9th streets from Union Depot in the West Bottoms. This photo shows the streetcar rails in front of the Savoy Hotel. htt...
