Rye is among the 33 most anticipated restaurants in the country
And, it's opening at Mission Farms, not Park Place.

No she's not...born and raised in KCMO.

And, yes, there is a Kate Spade store coming to the plaza.

Re: Crime up 22 percent in Joco

There's been quite a crime wave in PV over the last year. Not really sure what is spurring it other than maybe the economy and lax security in many PV homes. I would suspect they are probably targeting the community because it is largely elderly, who make for easy target.  I suppose it is a bit ala...

Restaurants for Thanksgiving

So, here's the deal.  My husband and I alternate Thanksgivings between his family and mine, and this year is "my" year.  My family always goes to my aunt & uncle's house in Tulsa, but because of my sister's work schedule (she's a restaurant manager in town), my parents are thinking of ...

Re: Grunauer - Austrian restaurant in Freighthouse District

I've also been with our pooch for a pleasant meal on the patio and would recommend the salad platter (three different Austrian salads), spaetzle and homemade bread along with a sausage or two and some cold beers for a great, light summer dinner.   Dog friendly?  Excellent. My husband and I are al...

Re: Christopher Elbow Ice Cream

My husband and I went last night.  When we got there, the line was barely contained within the store, and by the time we got our ice cream, there were probably 20 people in line outside the store.  We shared two smalls, so we got four flavors (I love being able to taste several kinds): Goat Cheese w...

Re: Breaking News: Prairie Village is very white

I live in Prairie Village and am incredibly happy that we bought our home there.  We started out in an apartment on the Plaza when we decided we were ready to buy.  We began by looking at DT & Plaza condos, then moved our search to Brookside...decided we wanted to live on the Kansas side and loo...

Re: big 12 tournament stuff

Didn't they used to have walkthrough metal detectors?  This wanding business was ridiculous.

For the first game on Thursday, we got in line just before 11am, and made it in just after 11:30...right as our intro video was ending. By Saturday, it was a LITTLE better.

definitely check in with KDOT. i'm in coffeyville and the conditions last night were very poor. it's calm today, so if the roads have been cleared you'll probably be fine. Coffeyville???  Me too.  Driving home from Mass on Christmas Eve was pretty scary...impossible to see. Drove back to KC yesterd...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

http://www.kansascity.com/199/story/1491954.html I'm all for Highwoods doing what they have to do to stick it out through this recession, but there is something odd about the Plaza having a tenant with the word "Sav" in the title. A Dollar Store cannot be too far behind. It's not SAVE-Art...

Re: Official Wall of Shame of Ugly Houses in KC

6232 Ward Parkway - Yes!  I drive by this every day and wonder what would possess someone to create this thing.  It looks like it maybe used to be a nice colonial, but then they ripped off the siding, the roofing, divided the lot into two and put up two stucco homes.  It's awful. The stucco houses ...

Re: Official Wall of Shame of Ugly Houses in KC

6232 Ward Parkway That's a weird house...but I disagree with whoever said it's gotten uglier.  It used to be a falling down, ramshackle old New Orleans style house.  It was absolutely an eyesore.  It's not particularly attractive, now...but it's much better than it used to be: http://i16.photobucke...

It was announced this fall that the owner of Baja 600 was opening a new Latin/Caribbean themed restaurant in the old Mi Cocina space.  He gave the name "Blue Agave" and said it would be opening in early 2009.  I do not think it has anything to do with any restaurant in Baltimore...but sinc...

Yeah, you can get it however you want. If a guy walks by and doesn't have what you want temp-wise, he will make sure you get it. To add to this - I thought they did a pretty good job of selecting meat cooked to your preference, but I think one major reason that I would much prefer to go to a good s...

Re: My New Home in Rockhill Gardens/75th & Holmes Area in Waldo

How funny!  We went back and forth between Prairie Village and the Brookside/Waldo area, too when we were looking for houses.  We had been looking for months and had actually had an offer out on a house in OP on the fringes of PV, but the offer didn't get accepted and then we fell in love with the ...
