Re: Best Missouri Vacation?

i would avoid going to columbia until the fall.  it is a pretty neat town, but it's a lot better when the students are in town.  more vibrant.  jefferson city is really terrible, but the capitol building and environs (esp. the bluff it sits on) is quite impressive.  i don't know if i would go to st....

2 dead, 10 hurt in south KC shooting

this shooting made the AP and national headlines.  not good.  it seems like there can never be large gatherings of young people without trouble anymore.  the article doesn't say where this happened, but this particular KoC hall is at approximately 83rd and Wornall.  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200607...

Re: 18th and Vine

It's the areas a couple blocks away from 18th and Vine that white people are afraid of. i'm pretty sure persons of all lineages are somewhat "afraid" of the area within a few blocks of the 18th and Vine district.  like it or not, some of kansas city's most impovershed and violent neighbor...

Re: NEBRASKANS

three times in the past week i have seen carloads of NE teenagers swarming the Plaza, all atwitter.  they obviously had "dressed up" for the trip as well, putting on their finest American Eagle apparel.  i don't really pay attention to the form of the license plates, but the NE cars ...

Re: Willie's - Columbia Pool House in the Crossroads

if it's anything like the Willie's in Columbia, it will be less like a billiards hall and more like a generic sports bar with a few pool tables.  i'm sure they'll have space for that.  the columbia willie's isn't very big either.

Re: Has anyone ever been to Belize?

a coworker of my brother went to belize for his honeymoon and had a nightmarish honeymoon-from-hell straight out of a movie.  (multiple painful vaccinations, mega-delays in getting there, the "resort" was a dump, there was a MURDER on the sidewalk outside the hotel right when they got ther...

Re: New SF 49er Stadium Proposal

My guess is the 49'ers are hoping it fails. They get to move to the happenin' burbs and abandon the get-o. "The 49ers on Monday unveiled an updated design plan for a new stadium at Candlestick Point. Candlestick Point remains the 49ers 'absolute top choice,' Lang said. 'We really do feel it's ...

Re: Willy's Thai Paradis to move

ok, wait....which of the following, if any, is incorrect:

(1) willie's fieldhouse is moving next to willy's thai paradise.
(2) willy's thai paradise is thinking about expanding.
(3) willie's fieldhouse is also thinking about expanding, in the form of a possible deck.

discuss.

Re: Finally, H.D. Lee building advances

\ But it sounds like the Crossroads is going to go from minimally adequate parking to lots and lots of parking... and if getting ample parking in there helps that happen, then I'm all for it. while i would argue that there always has been a MORE than adequate amount of parking in the Xroads, i wond...

the real question is this:  how is their carrot cake and/or banana cake?

i dont want a shantytown, but Vinegar Hill would be a great throwback name for a new development at PVP.

does anyone have photos of Vinegar Hill?

Re: Who Actually Uses Penn Valley Park?

I like leaf's idea but you gotta keep that hill just below the scout.  The old BMA tower looks awesome when you're driving south on 35 and that grassy hill leads right up to it.  Almost reminds one of what Corporate Woods should have looked like if it had any hills in it. think about the hills of P...

Re: Briarcliff Village

I may be making that organic store my primary grocer.  No stoplights from DT. it is supposed to be 10,000 sq ft.  how might the spatially challenged get a feel for that?  i wonder how that compares with the large Nature's Pantry store on 40 Hwy.  i also wonder if "organic grocer" mean...

Re: Demand for Organic Food Outstrips Supply in U.S.

the article you posted is very interesting.  i read it all.  i am not aware that anyone touting organic farming has argued that the nutritional content of an organic apple is better than a regular apple.  people that argue for organic produce simply note the relatively enviro-friendly production met...

yeah it would be awesome if 18th and Vine had a ton of free/cheap jazz going on during First Friday.  if they do, and i am not aware of it, feel free to flog me, but first friday is a great opportunity to get a couple hundred people to amble over to the 18th and Vine area.  perhaps even First Friday...

Re: Briarcliff Village

i find this pretty impressive, actually.  i wish RED would have obtained tenants like this for their SummitWoods development, which is just awful.

LatteLand and an organic market?  i'd be there every day if i lived near Briarcliff Village....wherever that is.  :)
