Re: New AMTRAK route between Kansas City and Oklahoma City
SB 409 Passenger Rail Service Program act was carried to the House floor today and recommended for passage. This may happen tomorrow morning. DAVEKCMO has the details correct. When passed Kansas can move forward and complete FRA requirements for ARRA funding, such as a service development plan. Se...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
If we are going high speed do we still have to have 7 stops between KC and STL and 8 stops between STL and Chi? How long does it take to get up to speed. Not too long at all; the major restriction is city speed limits, which will not allow movement above a certain speed. In most cases it is not tha...

National Archives in the west end of Union Station freight building?
I notice that the old derelict section of Union Station has become the National Archives. Cars are there each day and it looks like it is open. What is this place, what does it do? It looks like a nice addition to the area.

Also, exactly.DaveKCMO wrote: we did not notice we were crossing a highway, which was the whole point. we had to go back and look for it.
as for adding more storefronts, it's better than passive green space no one will use or maintain.

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
Isn't most of the delay due to the short sidings? Seems like this law won't do much if the freight trains are too long for the sidings, meaning they can't pull over to let Amtrak trains pass. MoDot Rail/Missouri will receive $3 million in federal funds to match the $5 million in State appropriatio...

So I spell one word wrong and it causes the whole point I made to be false? Wow.... the complete lack of logic that some people have on this board amazes me. They must have been educated in the KCMO district. Nice put down of those who are graduates of the KCMO public school system. So where did ...

Not any worse than a guy who promised he would take public money for his campaign, then bail on it so he could funnel all sorts of money from unknown sources through his website. NowTHAT's a major disqualifying failure and betrayal of the public trust. How about starting a recall drive or impeachm...

Obama and Biden, along with their family got there code names today. Obama is Renegade, Michelle is Renaissance, daughters Malia and Sasha are Radiance and Rosebud. Biden's codename is Celtic. I dont know if that's "C" or the "S" pronunciation. I always say the Boston Keltics ...

Re: Election 2008
Palin is almost certainly gearing up for a prez run in 2012--much like Obama was after 2004. I don't think she has a chance of getting past the primaries, but they said that about Obama, too... So how do you think Governor Palin will do in the 2012 primary season? Does she stand a chance ...

Well there's a couple of things the City Council could do.... 1: The council could overturn the vote like they did last time and just go for it, or 2: The council could reverse their own reversal of the the Chastain plan and begin to impliment that plan, and negotiate a deal with Chastain. He just ...

Massive Amtrak authorization signed by President Bush. It's a lot of money for Amtrak, but not a lot of money by national budget standards, but it is enough to make a HUGE difference in Amtrak service as it currently exists. Bush OKs $13B for Amtrak upgrades Friday, October 17, 2008 President Bush ...

Senator McCain has run for the office of President more than once. Only this year he was named as his party's candidate, but not without a serious damning by others true to cloth among leading Republicans. Back in 2000, McCain was shamed and humiliated, slandered and libeled by many fellow Republica...
